Privacy policy

This page describes what actually happens when you visit BasketLab, not a generic template. We are a static website with no accounts, no logins and no newsletter, so there is very little to describe.
What we do not do
- We have no user accounts and no way to register, so we hold no name, email or password for you.
- We run no advertising network, no retargeting pixels and no social media trackers.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone.
- We do not use fingerprinting, and we set no cookie of our own for tracking.
Analytics, and what runs before you consent
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are useful. It is consent-gated: until you press Accept on the banner, no analytics script is loaded and no request is made to Google from this site. If you press Decline, or ignore the banner, nothing analytics-related runs at all.
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key bl-consent. That is a preference,
not a tracker, and it never leaves your device. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and the
banner will reappear.
If you do consent, GA4 records the pages you view, approximate location at country or region level, device type and how you arrived. We use it in aggregate to decide what to write next. We have IP anonymisation enabled by Google's default and we do not use GA4's advertising features.
Live prices
Prices on this site are fetched live rather than typed in by us, because Amazon prices change constantly and a stale
price helps nobody. When a product page loads, your browser requests the current price from a small script on our own
server (/price.php), which asks Amazon and caches the answer briefly.
That request sends the product identifier only. We do not attach an identifier for you, we do not log the request against a profile, and Amazon receives the query from our server rather than from you.
Affiliate links
BasketLab is an Amazon Associate. When you click through to Amazon, Amazon sets cookies so that a purchase can be attributed to us. That happens on Amazon's site under Amazon's own privacy notice, and we never see who you are, what you looked at or what you bought. We receive only aggregate commission reporting. Server logs
The site is hosted on standard shared web hosting. Like any web server, it writes access logs containing IP address, timestamp, requested URL and browser user-agent. These are kept by the host for a short period for security and troubleshooting, and we do not use them for analytics or combine them with anything else.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction and objection. In practice we hold no personal data about you that could be looked up, because we have no accounts and no identifiers. If you email us, we will hold that email until the exchange is finished and then delete it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is written for adults doing household shopping. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions about your data go to hello@basketlab.co.uk, and we answer them ourselves.
