Our verdict
The ratings are close; the experience is not. The EWA is a tiny, cheerful travel speaker that does a lot for under £20 and rightly has fans. The Marshall Emberton III is a design object with the sound to match, proper stereo, sturdier build and a look that people pay for. Whether it is worth eight times the price is entirely about what you want from a speaker. For a beach or a shower, the EWA makes more sense and you will not worry about it. For a speaker you are proud to leave on a shelf, the Marshall is the one, and it sounds it.
