Probiotics & Gut Health
Gut health is having a moment, and probiotics are the centre of it. The honest picture is mixed: some strains help some people with specific issues, and the field is still catching up with the hype. That said, they are widely used and generally well tolerated, and many people swear by them after antibiotics or during travel. Look at the strains and the billions-of-CFU count rather than just the brand shouting loudest.
Common questions
Do probiotics actually work?
For some people and some issues, yes; the evidence is strongest around things like antibiotic-related upset. For general "gut health" the picture is less clear-cut, so treat bold claims with a pinch of salt and see how you personally respond.
What does CFU mean?
Colony-forming units, basically how many live bacteria you get per dose. Higher is not automatically better, but very low counts are unlikely to do much. Strains listed by name are a good sign of a serious product.
